Shaping the Future of Funds: Taskize at FundsCo 2025
Read the key trends shaping the future of funds
Taskize recently had the pleasure of attending the Americas’ Central Securities Depositories Association (ACSDA) XXVII General Assembly in Cancun, Mexico.
Hosted by Indeval, the annual event brought together Central Securities Depositories (CSDs) from across the Americas and South Africa, as well as key stakeholders from the global securities industry, all convening at the Atelier Playa Mujeres.
Representing Taskize, I joined colleagues from our parent company, Euroclear, to explore the evolving challenges and opportunities facing CSDs today — and to share how Taskize can support them in navigating this dynamic landscape. You can read more about our approach to CSD challenges here.
1. Tokenization of assets: Opportunities and risks for CSDs
A standout panel focused on the tokenization of assets and its implications for CSDs. Speakers highlighted that tokenization is already underway in parts of Latin America, and that CSDs are poised to act as trusted, essential players in this new digital frontier.
While innovation is advancing, CSDs are taking a measured approach, recognising the balance between opportunity and risk.
2. AI, productivity, and economic trends
Phil Mackintosh, Chief Economist at Nasdaq, delivered a compelling keynote on the macroeconomic landscape, emphasising the influence of AI on productivity and economic growth.
He also touched on global trade shifts, noting that tariffs may pose less of a challenge for Latin America due to its relatively balanced trade with the U.S.
3. How CSDs can lead the transformation of financial markets
One of the key sessions explored how CSDs can lead the ongoing transformation of financial markets. Bernard Ferran, Euroclear’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the importance of CSDs in linking global and domestic markets — and how Euroclear is helping to shape that transformation.
4. Regulatory developments and market trends that impact Americas
Regulatory shifts and emerging market trends were at the center of another engaging discussion, moderated by Euroclear’s Miguel Ferreira. The panel provided valuable updates and insights relevant to the Americas’ financial infrastructure landscape.
5. Leveraging data in the age of AI
With data abundance growing rapidly, another session explored how CSDs can harness this resource to deliver enhanced value to clients. AI once again emerged as a central theme — offering tools and strategies to unlock insights, boost efficiency, and enable smarter decision-making across the industry.
Overall, the event offered rich dialogue, fresh perspectives, and a clear reminder of the important role CSDs continue to play in evolving global markets. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead — and we look forward to joining our peers next year in São Paulo, Brazil.
