In the latest video of our 2025 predictions series, we spoke with Helen Adair, Taskize’s Head of Business Development, to explore the implications of the transition to T+1 settlement in Europe and the key role Taskize plays in supporting the industry.

Why the market must act now

Helen highlights the urgency of preparing for T+1, describing it as a pivotal moment for the European market: “We’re coming into a very big opportunity with T+1 in EMEA.”

The move towards faster settlement requires a formalised and streamlined approach to the various steps in the process, from identifying the correct counterparties to resolving errors quickly.

This shift is not without its challenges. “Who do I need to speak to? Who do I need to pay? And what happens if I pay the wrong person?” Helen asks, pointing out the complexities that arise in a faster settlement environment.

As the industry approaches the 2027 deadline, there’s a unique opportunity for Taskize – and its parent company, Euroclear – to provide innovative solutions that not only address these issues but also proactively shape the future of settlement processes.

Shifting mindsets and the cultural impact of T+1

T+1 will demand more than operational adjustments – it will require a cultural shift. As Helen explains in the video interview, this change will challenge long-held assumptions about how things are done:

“The mindset of ‘that’s how we’ve always done it’ will be forced to be challenged.”

All of this opens the door for a more effective and cohesive approach to executing trades. By questioning and re-evaluating the traditional sequence of steps in the trade lifecycle, the industry has the chance to rethink its choreography and adopt practices better suited to modern demands.

The role of Taskize in supporting the T+1 transition

The Taskize platform enables safe communication and seamless interoperability across diverse data sources, placing it “front and center” in the European settlement ecosystem.

As the pace of settlement accelerates, Taskize’s ability to connect stakeholders, resolve disputes, and enhance collaboration becomes even more critical:

“Taskize’s ability to sit front and center is going to become very influential in the broader European settlement timeframes.”

By enabling market participants to communicate effectively and resolve issues quickly, the Taskize platform is a cornerstone of the industry’s T+1 strategy.
